1937 350cc L.L.4
This 1937 350cc L.L.4 is owned by Michael and lives in the East of England. He bought it in 1979 from a local motorcycle dealer for £350. It had spent most of it`s life stored in a damp shed and still bore an original tax disc for 1941. It is intriguing to think that it may have been lain up during the war, perhaps the owner didn`t return or maybe there was another reason why it never got used. When Michael got it, the wheels had rusted flat where it had been standing on the damp ground and overall was very rusty, almost beyond recovery. But with the enthusiasm and confidence of youth he set to work and completed a vast amount.
The rest, as he says, may have to wait till he retires.

The engine and frame numbers are matching, A60937. The Burman gearbox is CP 16043. The frame and engine numbers are very similar to Jeff`s L.L.4 and may only be a few batches apart. More information on dating these numbers will follow.
Michael has two Stevens motorcycles, the 350cc above and a 250cc found HERE.
"There is something about the very look of the 350 Stevens that commands admiration and respect; something suggestive of `rightness` in every particular - of smooth, surging power, for instance - of splendid controllability - and of great safety." So opens the article of Jan 1st 1936 from Motor Cycling magazine. View pages below.
OK, so there is a bit of work yet to be done to bring Michaels bike up to these high standards, but I am sure it will get there in the end.
