1935 250cc U.S.2
As far as we know this is the only one of this model left. There are other 250`s around, but not one that features the upswept exhaust. This bike was sold in 2007 in the Bonhams motorcycle auction at the Stafford Classic Bike Show. The latest news is that it will end up in the U.S. It will obviously need some serious restoration and we hope that we will be able to assist the new owner with that. I believe that this will be an even rarer marque in the States as, as far as I am aware, there were no sales of Stevens there.

When the Stevens brothers introduced a new motorcycle in 1934, this is the model they designed to capture the attention of the public. The media were certainly impressed, the Motor Cycling Magazine of 28th March 1934 in their article titled `A New Make Enters The Lists` described it in glowing terms. `A promising debutante`, `an attractive little o.h.v.`, `compact and sturdily built`, `altogether a machine which will appeal to the connoisseur`. And the model that they chose to illustrate the article was the U.S.2.
The bike, shown here as it was found, previously belonged to a west country enthusiast who is sadly no longer with us, he bought it because it was the same as his name but never got around to restoring it. The engine and frame numbers are matching, 17435. We hope to show more pictures and include more information as the restoration gets under way.
